old song

This was perhaps my first complete song (and I don’t have many complete ones to begin with), back in early ’08. Freakishly enough, it turned out be a 6+ minutes song. I’ll re-produce it sometime.

On the weekend after my mid-semester examinations, I was itching to make some music. I hadn’t touched the guitar or any DAW in quite a while, so really, I just cranked up the distortion, put on some earphones and played away. Eventually, I came up with a small song. Could be extended into a 3+ minute fully-fledged song ofcourse, but that takes a lot more time, practise and patience, stuff I’m short of these days.

This is the rough, recording mix. I added a compressor on top of the whole thing to raise the volume.

This is the more polished, produced mix I just made:

If you enjoyed it, share it/spread it please.

the fruit

My vacations started about two and a half months ago.  Initially I just relaxed, saw some movies. Then slowly, gradually, I got into the groove to make and record some music. Initially I had grand plans of releasing a 5-track EP of selfproduced-but-polished songs, but when I noticed how slow things were going I reduced my goal to making just one or two tracks.

This is the result:-

This 45-second clip is all I have to show for these vacations.

I had lots of problems in production. I was trying to up the ante, I wanted the sound to be my best ever. I kept struggling with the drums for quite a bit, and when I finally figured them out I had problems with the volumes and levels in the track. Finally after a lot of trial and error, I nailed it. But when I recorded the guitars, they sounded like trash next to the bass and drums. And so, I am in need of a piece of equipment to improve the recording sound of the guitar. That, is the next project.
